Situated in Frankton, right on the round about, this is Queenstown’s only public golf course, perfect for novices and lower intermediate players. Not particularly technical, the course is best described as an easy walk amongst fun surroundings. Owned and managed by the local council, the golf centre provides an opportunity to play and learn golf at an affordable and well-maintained facility.
There is a great 10-bay driving range, of which 5 of the bays are covered over to become weather purposed. Costs of buckets are not exobitant and prices for green fees, memberships and causal rates are all relatively low considering the other golf
courses in the vacinity.
Frankton Golf Centre is also now the home of the South Island's first official FootGolf course, which opened early in October 2015. It is exactly what you imagine it is – feet, footballs and holes on greens. It’s a fast growing sport amongst the family demographics although many youth are starting to play it weekly. 9 holes will cost you $15, a junior $10 and a family of 5 $45
Probably more exciting is the ongoing commitment to the sport that the council are encouraging with a new youth development pathway program that has gained great regional support. They have also invested in a Science and Motion Putt Lab which provides you with digital stroke analaysis – fun for a rainy day!
