Spring 2021, Covid and Travelling South

Thank You

Moving into Spring every year we do a post about this awesome season and how wonderful it is down here in the South, and especially Queenstown. It’s been a challenging few months with lockdown across the country and we know Auckland has been the most challenged of us all.

So this is in part, a call out to say a huge thank you to everyone who locked down and kept themselves, our communities and our nation safe and kept the spread of the Covid virus low.

The news from down here in Queenstown is that we are open for business as are most of the tourism & adventure businesses too. For those who are able to travel, drop us a line and book an apartment and take the rare opportunity to enjoy Queenstown without the crowds!  Those still under travel restrictions, we'll see you when the time is right.  We look forward to it!

Travelling to Queenstown in today's current climate is a challenge.  Thankfully, Queenstown Airport has published a really simple guide to the rules around travelling.  We have outlined a few of the major ones below, but for more in-depth information, head directly to their website.

News from the Airport:

"Face coverings are now required to be worn when inside the airport terminal and travelling on public and passenger transport, including all flights. The use of a face-covering/mask is required when you are inside the airport and on all flights. Please keep your mask or face covering on inside the terminal after disembarking until you exit the building"

  • "Queenstown terminal is open to the public for anyone meeting and greeting. Please remember to follow level 2 protocols including signing in, wearing a mask or face covering and observing physical distancing. If you aren’t feeling well, please don’t enter the terminal.
  • Anyone entering the airport is required to sign in using the NZ COVID Tracer app. Manual sign-in will also be available. Individual retailers and food and beverage outlets inside the terminal also have their own QR codes for you to scan.
  • Air New Zealand customers are encouraged to check-in for their flight via the mobile app to save time at the airport
  • Access to the terminal is open to the public, including anyone meeting and greeting. Please remember to follow Level 2 protocols"

Please refer to your airline’s website for flight information. If you have an existing flight booking or are planning to make a booking, please contact your airline directly"

Restaurants and Cafe's are open, as are Wineries and Breweries.   For some great ideas on where to go and what to see, check out some of our other recommendations here.  Adventure activities are up and running - find out more here, and it doesn't matter what the weather is doing - we have ideas to keep you and your family entertained!

Caring for Others

Remember,  we have all been affected by this pandemic in one way or another.  Some more directly, and some financially.  Let's remember to be kind to each other.
